Postdoc in nanoparticle surface engineering for nanocomposite capacitors

 

The cross-border region Denmark-Germany is turning into a powerhouse in industrial electronics. Very recently, the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) was established by a strong partnership between industry, academia and regional authorities. CIE is located at the campus of SDU Sønderborg and surrounded by a vibrant industrial environment. CIE is part of the section SDU Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.

Job description
We are seeking an innovative multidisciplinary postdoctoral researcher for the Centre for Industrial Electronics in Sønderborg. The position will initially be for one year with the possibility of extending to up to three years and will focus on the surface modification of nanoparticles and their dispersal in polymer matrices for use in nanocomposite capacitors. The position will start September 2022 at the earliest.

The Centre for Industrial Electronics currently has 30 staff including senior (full and associate professors) and junior (assistant professors and Postdocs) academic staff, PhDs and support staff. This is expected to grow to 50 in a few years. The financial foundation for this growth as well as for the development of new research and test laboratories in key disciplines for Industrial Electronics has been secured. On this basis, we strive for unique and excellent value in research, innovation and education. It is our vision that Electrical Engineering at SDU will excel in areas of key relevance for companies in the region of Southern Denmark and beyond.

Candidates are required to have a proven research record in at least one of the following fields:

- Materials science

- Electronic device fabrication

- Capacitor materials development

- Nanoscience

- Surface chemistry

- Polymer science

- Electrostatic modelling/high voltage physics

Qualifications

The candidates must have a PhD in engineering or natural sciences. We also expect:

- Direct experience with nanoparticle surface engineering

- Experience with electronic device design, fabrication, and characterisation

- Familiarity with capacitor materials and their design

- A track-record of interdisciplinary research

- An outstanding research and publication track record

Assessment process
A panel will assess the qualification of the candidate for the described post based on the submitted material, which must include

  • an overall vision for research and development activities
  • a Curriculum Vitae and statement of motivation
  • relevant diploma (MSc and PhD)
  • a list of publications indicating the publications attached, top ten marked
  • reference letters and other relevant qualifications may also be included (postdoctoral experience can be a bonus)

The position will be at the rank of PostDoc preferably have a starting date of 1 September 2022.
