Research oriented veterinarian with experience in pig health

 The Department of Population Health Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University has the ambition to contribute to sustainable livestock production by education, research and societal outreach. The team for sustainable poultry and pig health invites nominations or applications for an enthusiastic research oriented veterinarian with experience in pig health. The successful candidate will start with a three year appointment at Assistant Professor level, to be followed by a tenure-track position if the terms of the appointment have been met. The position carries approximately 70 % research and 30% teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate:

  1. possesses a DVM degree and a PhD degree, a diploma of the ECPHM or equivalent is considered an asset;
  2. has (demonstrated) potential to develop research proposals and acquire funding;
  3. has experience in teaching.

The successful candidate is expected to develop research projects focused on infectious diseases in pigs, including animal models, in cooperation with the pig health group of Royal GD Deventer. The teaching responsibilities will focus on pig health. The department is particularly interested in individuals with demonstrated experience in collaborative research across disciplines.

Offer

This is an appointment of 1,0 fte for the duration of 1,5 - 3 years. In case of a good performance, extending the employment is one of the possibilities. The minimum gross salary is €2,960 and the maximum gross salary is €4,670 (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities) per month, at a full-time employment. Besides that, you will receive a holiday allowance of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 %.
