The Quebec Center for Biodiversity Science, in collaboration with the Quebec Circular Economy Research Network (via the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS)), the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS Quebec), Biodiversité Québec and the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs du gouvernement du Québec (MELCCFP), are launching an innovative project aimed at exploring synergies between biodiversity.
Project title :
Impact of the circular economy on biodiversity: Towards an integrated approach to support decision-making.
Annual Salary: $62,400.
Responsibilities and Objectives:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of experimental setups. All work must be done in co-development with another postdoctoral fellow (specialized in circular economy).
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Participate in the development of the conceptual framework, the terms of reference for case studies, and workshops with various stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities offered by biodiversity to achieve circular economy objectives.
- Develop an approach conducive to assessing the impact of biodiversity conservation measures on ecological transition issues.
- Formulate recommendations to promote the adoption of an integrated approach to biodiversity conservation in Quebec, considering ecological and socio-economic issues.
- Participate in the supervision of graduate students’ research projects.
Qualifying Skills:
- Ability to work collaboratively across different scientific disciplines
- Expertise in conducting comprehensive literature reviews
- Ability to develop conceptual frameworks for research
- Experience in organizing and leading workshops and working groups with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for formulating evidence-based recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education/Experience:
- Ph.D. in biological sciences, ecology, biodiversity conservation, or other relevant disciplines (obtained within the last 5 years).
- Experience in multidisciplinary scientific research, demonstrating an ability to work at the intersection of several disciplines.
- In-depth knowledge of biodiversity, its measures, conservation strategies and practices, and their practical application in various contexts (ecosystemic and/or sectoral).
- Basic understanding of circular economy issues, with the ability to collaborate effectively with specialists in this field (an asset).
- Proficiency in French and English (due to collaboration with an international network of experts and anglophone institutions).
Annual Salary:(AMURE Post-Doctoral Fellow Researcher) $45,000.00
