UPPMAX (Uppsala Multidisciplinary Center for Advanced Computational Science, www.uppmax.uu.se) is a center with the mission to provide large-scale resources for computing and storage for researchers at Uppsala University and to offer support for them. To utilize the resources effectively, advanced user support with broad competence is provided. UPPMAX currently has about 1500 active users from various application areas where large-scale computations and storage of large datasets are necessary, such as bioinformatics and materials science, but also newer disciplines such as digital humanities. UPPMAX has around 20 employed system and application experts.
The application experts at UPPMAX form a broad group of approximately ten people who assist researchers in their utilization of large-scale computing and storage resources at UPPMAX and NAISS (National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing in Sweden), participating in NAISS’s national user support function.
