The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees.

GH‑Pharma conducts interdisciplinary research aimed at improving the treatment and prevention of major infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases. Our research is carried out in close collaboration with international partners, particularly in Africa, and seeks to generate evidence to inform clinical practice, policy, and treatment guidelines in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs). We are now looking for a Research Assistant to support ongoing and future research in global health pharmacology and therapeutics.

Your mission

The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting and advancing ongoing and future projects, with a particular focus on research coordination and grant development in global health. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the interface of clinical research, global health policy, and pharmacological sciences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews, identifying research gaps, and contributing to project development and preparation of grant proposals and applications
  • Supporting the design, protocol development, and implementation of clinical research projects, including clinical trials and translational research
  • Providing day‑to‑day support to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers
  • Assisting with data collection, data management, and statistical analysis
  • Ensuring data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance across research projects 

The position involves direct engagement with clinical research activities, including protocol development, interpretation of clinical data, collaboration with clinicians and investigators in LMIC settings, and contribution to publications and grant applications, where medical training provides essential clinical insight and judgment.

Your profile

We are seeking a highly motivated full‑time Research Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in medical or health sciences, pharmacology, or global health.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in medical in public health
  • Documented experience in scoping reviews and grant development, including preparation of research proposals and funding applications
  • Experience in clinical research and clinical trials, including study design, project coordination, methodology, data management, and statistical analysis
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Merits:

  • Strong communication, academic writing, and teaching skills in global health research
  • Medical doctor with strong experience in conducting research in low  and middle income countries (LMICs), including demonstrated experience with scientific publications.
  • Experience in global health clinical research including trials and familiarity with research conducted in LMIC settings
  • Basic skills in statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS) 

We are looking for someone who have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. You should also have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research environment.
