Position HighlightsA postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Russell S. Witte, PhD in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ). The successful candidate will assume a lead role in developing acoustoelectric brain imaging technology, combining ultrasound with radiofrequency sensing to map electrical currents in the body. Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop imaging protocols using a programmable ultrasound platform (Verasonics™).Apply advanced principles in US signal processing and beamforming.Solve inverse problems in ultrasound and bioelectricity.Analyze multidimensional datasets.Conduct experiments in tissue-mimicking phantoms, biological tissue, animals or humans.Produce high quality publications and mentor team of graduate and undergraduate students.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Self-motivated and able to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment.Fluency in English with excellent writing and presentation skills.
Minimum QualificationsPhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Applied Physics or related field.At least three publications in biomedical imaging and/or advanced signal processing.At least four years’ experience working with hardware and instrumentation.
Preferred QualificationsTrack record of quality publications in biomedical imaging involving ultrasound, signal processing, and imaging systems.Experience with Vantage open platform ultrasound system by Verasonics™.4+ years’ experience with bioinstrumentation (e.g., oscilloscope, function generator, scanner).4+ years’ experience in Matlab™/C++ or Labview.2+ years’ experience with acoustic modeling software.Experience with any of following: acoustoelectric imaging, electrical impedance imaging, EEG current source analysis, functional brain imaging, solving inverse problems, electrophysiology, ultrasound signal processing, pulse encoding and reconstruction, radar, K-Wave, FOCUS, Field-II, SolidWorks, 3D printing.
