| Position Summary | The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute at the Indiana University School of Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship position in the Department of Ophthalmology. Our research focus is retinal cell biology with the goal of understanding the fundamental processes of vision and discovering small molecule therapy for photoreceptor degenerative disorders. To elucidate the disease mechanisms, we genetically dissect the molecular mechanisms underlying photoreceptor morphogenesis and maintenance in vertebrate animals. Our laboratory pioneered real-time imaging of proteins and small molecules within the retina and takes advantage of state of the art confocal/super resolution microscopy techniques. Our research also heavily depends on the tissue culture system to biochemically study the components required for photoreceptor morphogenesis/maintenance.The applicant is expected to be highly independent and be capable of designing experiments and conducting hypothesis-based research projects. The candidate is expected to be familiar with basic laboratory operations and proper documentation of experimental records. The candidate should have a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry. Knowledge of fluorescence microscopy is favorable, although not necessary. The Glick Eye Institute is located on the IU School of Medicine campus in downtown Indianapolis. IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty. We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to improve health equity and well-being for all throughout the state of Indiana.IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty.
