Description of workplace
At the research group Clinical Memory Research , Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö, we do cutting-edge research on biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, such as Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The research, which has gained international recognition through the BioFINDER projects, has for several years been at the forefront in the field of fluid-based biomarkers and brain imaging, enabling early and accurate detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of disease. The group is led by Associate Professor Sebastian Palmqvist and Associate Professor Niklas Mattsson-Carlgren and consists of research and technical/administrative staff. The workplace is located at the Biomedical Center (BMC) in Lund. We collaborate closely with the Memory Clinic at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, where several of our researchers also work clinically. You can read more about our exciting research here

Project description
The research will focus on innovating multimodal biomarker research within BioFINDER program (including PET imaging, MRI, novel fluid biomarkers, proteomics, genetics, and cognition; https://biofinder.se)
Work tasks and responsibilities
A postdoctoral position at Lund University will provide opportunities for scientific and educational development. It is mainly a research position, but there is also the opportunity to take part in formal pedagogical training. Teaching may be a part of the position.
As a post-doc within this project you will work with the following work duties: Statistical data processing and analysis, production of scientific publications, presentation of results at meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences. Other tasks within the research group may occur, such as grant writing and supervision.
Qualifications
The position requires:
- A completed PhD or equivalent in neuroscience. The PhD degree must be completed no later than at time the employment decision is made.
- Pedagogical competence.
- Expertise in brain imaging, fluid biomarkers, neuropsychology, and/or statistical analysis/modeling.
- Strong knowledge of or research experience in Alzheimer’s disease, alpha-synuclein-related diseases, aging, and/or cognition.
- Strong ability to develop and conduct high-quality research, demonstrated by previous publications in high-impact scientific journals.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The work tasks require that you are driven, meticulous, oriented to detail, and persistent.
Merits for this position:
- Preference will be given to applicants who have obtained their PhD degree no more than three years prior to the application deadline
- Successful applications for research funding.
Assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on scientific merits and potential as researchers. Special consideration will be given to scientific ability in the specific subject
About the position
The position is limited to two years with a preliminary start date of 2026-06-01 or by agreement.
It is a full-time position.
A postdoctoral position is limited to two years with the possibility to extend to three years according to collective agreement for postdocs (The Swedish Agency for Government Employers). A postdoctoral position is intended as an initial step in a scientific career and as an opportunity to develop key competencies as a researcher.
