The Department of Health and Care Sciences conducts education and research with a focus on care, health and people’s living conditions. We educate nurses, radiographers, specialist nurses and midwives with the aim of meeting society’s need for competent and committed health care professionals. Research at the department spans a wide range of areas, but shares a common foundation in person-centred and evidence-based care. The department is part of the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and is located at Campus Medicinareberget, in close proximity to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We are seeking a researcher (postdoctoral fellow) with an interest in research with an international focus.
Duties
As a researcher (postdoctoral fellow), you will play a central role in both national and international research projects with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Your primary responsibilities will include planning, conducting, and following up on research activities, with a particular emphasis on implementation sciences. You will:
- plan and carry out data collection, such as interviews, focus groups, and document studies,
- conduct systematic qualitative analyses and interpret research data,
- contribute to manuscript writing and the production of scientific publications,
- compile and present results in collaboration with the project team,
- work with data management and analysis, including statistical analyses where applicable.
The position involves responsibility for independently and collaboratively planning and carrying out research-related tasks together with the project team. You will be responsible for data collection, analysis, and documentation in accordance with applicable research ethics guidelines, and you will actively contribute to analytical work and scientific publication.
You will work in close collaboration with the project leader and other researchers to ensure high scientific quality throughout the research process.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who hold a doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position. A swedish midwifery license is considered an asset.
You have experience working in research projects and documented competence in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. You also have experience in scientific writing and working with diverse populations, including community-based research.
Documented research experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health in Sweden or Sub-Saharan Africa is considered meritorious, as is experience in implementation research and grant writing.
You have strong knowledge of qualitative research methodology and analysis, as well as an understanding of the entire research process, including research ethics and documentation. Knowledge of migrant health and global guidelines for the role of midwives is considered an advantage.
The language requirements include good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as very good proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Good digital competence is required for the position. Experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo or equivalent) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, or equivalent) is considered an asset.
To thrive in and be well suited for this role, you are expected to be meticulous, quality-conscious, and well-structured, with excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a research team. You also have a strong ability to work independently, plan, and take responsibility for your own tasks.
The position involves daily contact with people in various contexts, which requires strong communication skills, both spoken and written. In the selection process, an overall assessment of competence, experience, and personal qualities will be made, with the aim of identifying the candidate best suited to contribute to the successful implementation of the research project.
Employment
This is a fixed-term position of up to 11 months, at 50% full-time equivalent. The position is based at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences. The starting date is to be agreed upon.
